The S stands for speed, and the new iPhone 3G S has made some great speed improvements over the previous phone. The phone looks the same as the existing iPhone 3G but the performance is much better, making it so much better in use.
New features include: Faster CPU, new internal compass, better camera, more storage, iPhone OS 3.0, video recording.
There's an intelligent Multi-Touch keyboard that predicts words as you type for easy texting, cut/copy/paste.
MMS has finally been added to the iPhone, so you can take a photo, video or voice memo and message it to someone easily. The previous iPhone didn't have MMS because Steve Jobs couldn't understand why people wouldn't just use e-mail for free, but users moaned about the lack of MMS and the addition of the feature should be welcomed.
The screen has an oleophobic coating to decrease fingerprint smears.

| 8 | Another excellent product from Apple. It's a shame it didn't come with turn by turn GPS navigation, but I expect they'll be some aftermarket software for that.

If you are on a limited budget then you may need to think carefully about the upgrade as the iPhone 3G is still a decent phone, but the 3G S is so much slicker.
